Hark! The Herald Banjo Rings
See Amid the Winter's Snow
Performed by Liddy Barlow on soprano recorder, flute, and tin whistle
Words: Edward Caswall, 1858
Music: HUMILITY, John Goss, 1871
Liddy discovered this carol in the Presbyterian Hymnal this year and enjoyed its lovely melody. She played the melody on recorder and harmonies on flute and tin whistle. Thanks to Greg for his Audacity expertise.
See amid the winter's snow,
Born for us on earth below,
See, the gentle Lamb appears,
Promised from eternal years.
Hail that ever-blessed morn,
Hail redemption's happy dawn,
Sing through all Jerusalem:
Christ is born in Bethlehem!
Say, you holy shepherds, say,
Tell you joyful news today.
Why have you now left your sheep
On the lonely mountain steep?
"As we watched at dead of night,
There appeared a wondrous light;
Angels singing 'Peace on earth'
Told us of the Savior's birth."
