Performed by Mark Gionfriddo on piano

Away in a Manger is the first of three recordings from Mark Gionfriddo this year. He plays a medley of two of the tunes, the first by James R. Murray and the second by James E. Spilman. The other common tune is one by William James Kirkpatrick. Mark recorded this on an Akai MPK 88 keyboard controller using a Steinway sample from Logic Studio.
Away in a manger, no crib for His bed,
The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head.
The stars in the sky looked down where He lay,
The little Lord Jesus, asleep on the hay.
The cattle are lowing, the poor Baby wakes,
But little Lord Jesus, no crying He makes.
I love Thee Lord Jesus, look down from the sky,
And stay by my side until morning is nigh.
Be near me Lord Jesus, I ask Thee to stay
Close by me forever and love me, I pray.
Bless all the dear children in Thy tender care,
And fit us for heaven to live with Thee there.
