Hark! 2011
December 25
Good Christian Men, Rejoice
Performed by Greg Barlow on banjo and vocals
Words: Medieval Latin (attributed to Heinrich Suso); trans. and para. John Mason Neale, 1853; alt.
Music: IN DULCI JUBILO, German folk tune, 14th century.
Merry Christmas! This is the final song for Hark! The Herald Banjo Rings 2011, and we hope you enjoyed our music this year. Hark will be back next year on December 2, though probably in a slightly different format. Unless we have a lot of participants, Hark will probably only be two or three times a week instead of every day during Advent. So if you want to hear music from us every day, learn some Christmas songs before next year!
Lyrics
Good Christian men, rejoice with heart and soul, and voice;
Give ye heed to what we say: Jesus Christ is born today;
Ox and ass before Him bow, And He is in the manger now.
Christ is born today! Christ is born today!
Good Christian men, rejoice, with heart and soul and voice;
Now ye hear of endless bliss: Jesus Christ was born for this!
He hath opened the heaven's door, And we are blest forevermore.
Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this!
Good Christian men, rejoice, with heart and soul and voice;
Now ye need not fear the grave: Jesus Christ was born to save!
Calls you one and calls you all To gain His everlasting hall.
Christ was born to save! Christ was born to save!
